How I’m Getting Over Caring About Pictures

I’m letting you in on a little confession of mine: sometimes I care way too much about how I look in pictures. I alluded to that fact in one of my 31 Days of Weakness posts.

I also mentioned it in my post about the game face I make during crossfit activities. Making these comments every now and again is OK with me. What’s not ok, however, is when I spend an evening crying over the fact that it looks like I have cellulite in a picture.

This crying episode happened a couple months ago and I thought about it the other day and how utterly ridiculous it is that I actually spent time stressing over something so miniscule in the grand picture of life. Way to be a hot mess, Caitlin.

One of the things I’ve noticed about blogging is that if I write something down then I will actually act on it in real life. Blogging in the blogosphere is great, but when I can make real changes in how I act and feel, that shii is awesome. I’m a true believer in constantly evolving.

So – here’s me officially saying – I don’t care about how I look in pictures. I’m definitely going to have a bajillion more bad ones taken in my lifetime and I’m probably going to have some really good ones. (Woop! Thank goodness.)

In the meantime, I’ll just poke fun at what I got going on right now.

April Link Love & An Announcement!

Oh hey blog – what’s up? I ran away from you for about a week. How rude of me.

What’s even ruder (more rude?) is that I don’t even have original words for you today. Among new work projects, comedy classes, and competing at crossfit challenges all weekend, words escape me. Soo I gathered up some of my favorite posts from other bloggers this past week. Check them out… (after this brief announcement!)

I’m meeting bloggers in real life AGAIN this weekend!! That’s right VA Blogger Meet Up 2.0 is being held this Saturday May 4th at none other than a Mexican restaurant cause we wouldn’t have it any other way. Cinco de Cuatro, ole!

Something about seeing old and new faces reminds me of this quote I once read: “When you walk into rooms, may you truly see people rather than wonder what people see in you.” I plan on being especially mindful of this saying while regrouping and meeting with wonderful blogging ladies this Saturday!  :)

 Favorite Posts from Last Week

Chatting at the Sky – Introducing you to My Favorite Unfolding Story – I’ve admired Emily and her blog for years now. She is one of my favorite writers. Emily continues to amaze me with the breadth and style of her work. I admit to shedding a few tears while reading this post about the simple and touching unfolding love story between her and her husband. In a very Sex and the City moment, she finally unveils her husband’s name on her blog. It’s a big deal! Pun intended for any S&C fans ;)

PaleOMG – Personal Pesto Chicken Meatza (also the story of the unique birthday present she received from her boyfriend) – I’ve been following Juli’s blog since I began a mostly paleo eating regimen. She is funny and has great food ideas. I’m sure this recipe is fantastic but my own reasons for liking this post is about the present from her boyfriend. So stinking cute! And the story / gift makes me so happy for her. She has a very thoughtful guy!

Nesting Place – Mother’s Day Discount Codes – A number of discount codes to some of the Nester’s favorite online shops. Lots of cute stuff and inspiring ideas for M-Day presents!

The Chronicles of Chaos – 5 Books Every Woman Should Read – in which Mia recommends one of my favorite books (obviously) The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I’ve read it several times and follow Gretchen’s blog religiously. I also love her recommendation of the 5 Languages of Love, which I’ve heard is a fantastic read for anyone in a relationship and, most likely, anyone in general.

*Apparently I’m full of love this week??! Woop… let’s spread it wide :)
